Moms Demand Action Kentucky Chapter Calls for the Resignation of Representative Leslie Combs After Her Gun Discharged Inside the State Capitol Annex

by Moms Demand Action

The Kentucky chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is calling for the resignation of Kentucky State Representative Leslie Combs (KY-94) after discharging a semi-automatic handgun in the Kentucky State Capitol Annex on Tuesday evening.

Our lawmakers should be held to the highest of standards, and should never put others in harms way. As a concealed-carry permit holder, Rep. Combs should understand the risks of handling a loaded gun within close proximity of others. She not only put her own life in danger, but that of her colleague Rep. Jeff Greer (KY-27) who was present at time of the incident when her gun discharged and ricocheted inside her office. Rep. Combs’ actions…

Pope Francis slams super salaries for the rich while the poor survive on “crumbs”

The Fifth Column

The current budget brokered by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) is up for a vote today.  It will be interesting to see if it passes both houses.

Giving more tax break to the rich and cutting subsidies for the underemployed and poor seems to be a bipartisan effort these days.

Pope Francis has made yet another strongly worded statement on growing inequality and economic justice, this time slamming outsized salaries and bonuses for corporate executives while others survive on “crumbs.”

In a message to mark the Catholic Church’s World Peace Day, Francis called on international leaders and corporate executives to implement “effective policies” to bridge the growing wealth gap.

“The grave financial and economic crises of the present time … have pushed man to seek satisfaction, happiness and security in consumption and earnings out of all proportion to the…

Fox Nation Readers React To Death Of Nelson Mandela With Racism, Death Wishes For Obama

The Fifth Column

Some might ask why bother to publish this stuff.  To that, I reply, why not?  Why protect the SOBs by not publicizing their inanity?

Fox Nation posted a respectful article about Nelson Mandela’s death – and many of their readers responded in kind. But many erupted in such shocking racism and/or death-wishing hatred for President Obama that words fail us. You really need to see them for yourself. (H/T Andrew S.) UPDATED

This is what passes for “tolerance” and “civil discourse” on Fox Nation:

UPDATE: Apparently, Fox is embarrassed enough by their own readers that they have now removed the comments section along with the previously existing comments.

Cleveland Wal-Mart Solicits Food Donations So Its Own Employees Can “Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner”

This is disgusting.

As Ohio Goes, So Goes the Nation

A ClevelandWal-Mart store is holding a food drive — for its own employees.

“Please donate food items so associates in need can enjoy Thanksgiving dinner,” reads a sign accompanied by several plastic bins.

The Plain Dealer first reported on the food drive, which has sparked outrage in the area.

“That Wal-Mart would have the audacity to ask low-wage workers to donate food to other low-wage workers — to me, it is a moral outrage,” Norma Mills, a customer, told the Plain Dealer.

A company spokesman defended the food drive, telling the newspaper that it is evidence that employees care about each other.

Wal-Mart has been criticized for paying low wages to its 2.2 million employees. Wal-Mart turned a profit of $15.7 billion last year.

When he announced this year’s winners, Obama said:
The Presidential Medal of Freedom goes to men and women who have dedicated their own lives to enriching ours. This year’s honorees have been blessed with extraordinary talent, but what sets them apart is their gift for sharing that talent with the world. It will be my honor to present them with a token of our nation’s gratitude.
