BREAKING: S&P Lowers Credit Ratings of 9 Countries

Standard & Poor’s has lowered the credit ratings of nine eurozone countries, including France, Italy and Spain.

It cut France’s top AAA credit rating one notch to AA+. It lowered Italy’s A rating two notches to BBB+ and cut Spain’s two notches to A from AA-.

It’s not clear how these downgrades will affect world markets. Investors have anticipated them, but the debt markets in Europe stay on edge.
